Home After YWAM

Aloha!

My name is Haley and I am a staff member with YWAM Maui. Earlier this year due to some visa issues, I unexpectedly had to return home to Canada where I need to stay for six months before I can return to Maui and continue with YWAM.

When I first heard this news and returned home, I was absolutely heartbroken! I didn’t understand what was going on and I didn’t know how this could be part of God’s plan when He clearly called me to Maui. Ever since I came on staff, the Lord has been teaching me so clearly that His timing is perfect and I need to learn to put all of my trust in HIM. God has walked me through and out of so many situations, so why wouldn’t I trust Him with this?

While being home, I have realized more than ever the importance of keeping God in the center of my life, staying intimate with Him and seeking His heart.  Although I miss my community at YWAM Maui so dearly, God has been reminding me that no matter where I am HE is there! And although I’m not constantly surrounded by Christ-loving community, I have the ability to create community for myself within my home church again. I have the opportunity to bring all that He has taught me throughout the past year and a half and be the hands and feet of Jesus here at home. And even though I might rather be back with YWAM, I cannot overlook the importance of that!

Proverbs 3:5-6 says; “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths”

In order to continue giving my all for HIS kingdom, I must place all of my trust in His timing and His plan for my life. Of course, I’m not always perfect at it, but God is always there. When I find my identity in Him, I can trust wherever He takes me and find my contentment in Him.
