One of the most important aspects of relationship with God is worship, why is that? When we come before God with a heart posture of worship it allows us to come to a better understanding of our holy, wonderful, sovereign, all powerful God, it humbles us. When we come to an understanding of His holiness we come to an understanding of who we are and our need for Him.
In Jonah 2:3 is says “For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and billows passed over me.” So what does this mean? This is Jonah’s prayer in the belly of the the great fish after he fled God’s call to the city of Nineveh. You could say this was not a high point in Jonahs walk with God. Because of his disobedience Jonah found himself at the bottom of the see, literally and figuratively, Jonah felt that weight of his disobedience, he felt Gods anger, frustration and sadness, but it was through that weight that Jonah saw the error in this ways and cried out to God. So God, in all His lovingkindness and mercy heard Jonahs cry and commanded the fish to vomit Jonah up so that he could then walk in obedience to God. So, what are you fleeing from? Has God asked something of you that you are trying to put off or ignore? Seek the Lord for reproof and walk out in obedience!
